General Facilities

Library

The school has a well-stocked library covering a variety of subjects. Students are encouraged to make full use of the facilities in order to inculcate a love for books and a habit of reading from an early age.

Canteen

The school canteen offers a wide range of healthy snacks and beverages at affordable prices. Strict hygienic standards are maintained at all times and children are encouraged to develop healthy eating habits.

Books Store

The school houses a well stocked store, which offers text books, note books and a range of miscellaneous items at special prices. In order to maintain uniformity, parents are encouraged to make use of this facility.

Medical Centre

The school has a well-equipped health unit, manned by a full time doctor and a qualified nurse. We strive to provide our students a safe and secure environment, free from any health hazards. In the case of accidents or emergencies, the medical centre is well equipped to provide sufficient first aid.

School Transport

The school has a fleet of air-conditioned buses that cover all areas of Dubai and Sharjah. We emphasise comfort and care through our bus conductors. 

Personal Counseling

The Counseling Centre in the school provides a forum where the students are assisted to cope with the pressures and issues of growing up and a variety of other social, psychological, educational and developmental issues.

We aim to identify all children who need special attention to support their physical, sensory, social, emotional, communicative or cognitive developments.

External referrals for assessments would be suggested whenever required, which would facilitate intervention programmes.

Career Counseling

The in-house career services include administering interest and aptitude tests; help students to discover and choose the career of their interest by interactive activities designed and developed by the GEMS Counselors.

Sports Facilities

Beyond the development of skills, our sporting facilities support students in their goals of leading healthy and active lifestyles.

Sport plays a crucial role in the physical, educational, and social development of GEMS Our Own Indian School students, encouraging them to explore their talents, develop their skills, and enhance their abilities, whilst enjoying an active, healthy lifestyle.

All physical education and extra-curricular sports activities are held within a nurturing, encouraging, and inclusive environment.

Outdoor KG and Primary Play Area

Two separate shaded play areas equipped with a variety of age appropriate and child friendly outdoor equipment has been specially designed for use by the younger children.

Playing Field

Encouraging physical activity, the school has a large playing field to accommodate various games and sporting activities. The basketball courts provide our students with excellent opportunities to develop their sporting talents.

Science and Technology

At Our Own School, Al Quoz, we are committed to offering the most up-to-date facilities for our students, particularly when it comes to science and technology subjects.

Science Laboratories

Our Science Department is fully equipped with outstanding facilities, and is home to our Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Home Science laboratories.

ICT Laboratories

We also have a number of well-equipped, high-tech Information and Communication Technology labs, allowing our students to use computers and become capable and skilled in all areas of the ICT curriculum.

We firmly believe that pupils should be exposed to technology from an early age, which is why our ICT laboratories are used to support learning from as early as Grade 1.
